CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS ACTIVITIES 7-1-01 thru 12-31-01

7-2-01 thru 7-6-01 CROUCH SENIOR CENTER
With the exception of the fourth of July, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL spent the week volunteering at the center.

7-3-01 TRIAD MEETING, MICHIGAN THEATRE, ALL-AMERICA CELEBRATION, STREET DANCE
While CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL was busy working with the seniors at the Crouch Senior Center, CAPTAIN JACKSON was attending a TRIAD meeting in the centers` BLUE ROOM, during which he was elected an active member.
Later, both met and worked the Michigan Theatre`s "Just for Kids" movie "The Goonies". Shortly before 5:00pm, The QUEEN of HEARTS joined the pair to attend the All- America Celebration at the Farmer`s Market.
Then, the three traveled to Hanover, Michigan where they were invited to attend the "Fourth of July Celebration" Street Dance.

7-10-01 PICNIC IN THE PARK AND "UNDER THE OAKS" MEETING
During the lunch hour The QUEEN of HEARTS attended PICNIC AT THE PARK at Bucky Harris Park and participated with The Rose City Harmonica Club at their request.
Later that evening, at the request of Adam Blossom, CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the "Under the Oaks" neighborhood watch meeting. Also in attendance was Jackson City Police Chief Ervin Portis and Judy Dupuis, both of whom thanked the Captain for his attendance and input.

7-12-01 TRIAD WEBSITE
Triad chairman Joe Evans and the Captain have a long phone conversation about the local chapter`s goals. CAPTAIN JACKSON volunteers to create a free website for the group and take on the responsibility of becoming the official webmaster.

7-13-01 VIBE@5
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS attended the Friday event, during which they assist the police handle a panhandler who was annoying the crowd. They also participated with the Irish Celtic band PUB DOMAIN. Later, at the request of a local Japanese business executive, CAPTAIN JACKSON stopped by Daryl`s Downtown for a photo shoot with him and visiting representatives from his home company who had heard how (in the broken English of the one of the visiting executives) "We hear Captain Jackson work with police to keep streets safe for all people. Thank you for spending time to speak to us and keep us safe." The Captain, of course, returned their handshakes as well as did the traditional bow.

7-18-01 CRIMEFIGHTERS IN IRON MOUNTAIN
During their annual vacation to Iron Mountain, Michigan, CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL made it a point to visit with all three Police agencies. All of welcomed the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS with open arms and encouragement, and were very interested in their methods of linking to gap between the public and the police.
While patrolling the streets a number of locals approached them and welcomed them to their community. It seems the local newspaper, THE DAILY NEWS, had written a story about the CFC after their visit in 2000. Many also commented about following their adventures via their web sites.

7-21-01 REPUBLIC
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL always make it a point to visit the now closed open pit iron mine in Republic, Michigan to collect samples of iron ore and taconite to give to friends. While there, they took many pictures and met many locals, including a man from England who had heard of them via the Internet.

7-24-01 thru 7-27-01 CROUCH SENIOR CENTER
After returning from vacation, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL resumed her volunteer duties at the center.

7-24-01 PICNIC IN THE PARK AND MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL spent the lunch hour at Bucky Harris Park enjoying the music of Steve Berkemeier.
Afterward, they went to the Michigan Theatre to help with the Kid`s Movies presentation.

7-27-01 CRUISE NIGHT
The three members of the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS worked with the police to make the event a safe one for the 3500+ people who attended.

7-31-01 PICNIC IN THE PARK
The QUEEN of HEARTS spent the lunch hour enjoying Uncle Carl`s Dulcimer Club.

8-3-01 VIBE@5
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS spent the evening working with the local authorities during the event.

8-6-01 thru 8-16-01 CROUCH SENIOR CENTER
CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL volunteers at the center.

8-7-01 TRIAD MEETING, PICNIC IN THE PARK, NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the TRIAD MEETING at the Crouch Senior center. Later, he was joined by The QUEEN of HEARTS and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL for the PICNIC IN THE PARK event. Afterward, CJ and CFG worked the KID`S MOVIE crowd at the Michigan Theatre. Later that evening CJ and the QoH attended the NATIONAL NIGHT OUT event at Bucky Harris Park.

8-10-01 VIBE@5
The CFC spent the evening working making sure the crowd was safe. Later, they visited The Michigan Theatre to help with the crowd for the play "The Wizard of Oz".

8-12-01 AWARE SHELTER DEDICATION
CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the ceremony to dedicate the new office section of the AWARE Shelter.

8-14-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CJ and CFG appeared at the Michigan Theatre as guests for the KID`S MOVIE SERIES.

8-15-01 JACKSON HEALTH FAIR
CJ and CFG attended the annual health fair at the county health center.

8-16-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
The CFC attended the last KID`S MOVIE SERIES of the season as guests.

8-17-01 VIBE@5
The CFC were on hand for the last Vibe@5 event of the season.

8-21-01 PICNIC IN THE PARK
The QUEEN of HEARTS was on hand to make sure everyone was safe at the event.

8-24-01 AUGUST CRUISE NIGHT
The CFC was on hand for the last Cruise Night of the summer.

8-25-01 ALBION NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PICNIC
The CFC were the guest speakers at Albion`s annual Neighborhood Watch picnic. All three gave speeches, with The QoH`s "Inspirational Speech" being the best. The CFC had the opportunity to meet many of the local authorities and share different methods of crime fighting and prevention. The ALBION RECORDER was also present and featured The CFC in a front page mention in their Mondy issue.

8-28-01 PICNIC IN THE PARK
The QUEEN of HEARTS attended the last Picnic of the Park of the summer and enjoyed The Jackson Banjo Club Band.

8-31-01 thru 9-1-01 SUMMERFEST
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS worked with the authorities during the two day event.

9-5-01 DOWNTOWN PATROL

9-11-01 TRIAD MEETING
The membership voted to adopt CJ`s program to work with the AWARE Shelter in an effort to collect donated cell phones for the elderly/abused.

9-18-01 911 MEMORIAL SERVICE
On the advice of public officials, CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the very moving service which honored the fallen Police and Fire fighters at the World Trade Center. The event was held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

9-19-01 CASCADES HUMANE SOCIETY GROUND BREAKING
CAPTAIN JACKSON was one of the many dignitaries to attend the ground breaking ceremony at the new location of the Cascades Humane Society.

9-26-01 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL

9-28-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON worked the theater for the first FALL KID`S MOVIE SERIES film "Shrek".

9-30-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON worked the theater for the first FALL KID`S MOVIE SERIES film "Shrek".

10-2-01 TRIAD MEETING AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the TRIAD meeting during which he was asked to be a member of the Promotion Commitee. Afterward, he escorted Chairman Joe Evans to Townley Studios to introduce him to Bart Hawley and set up the first of many appearances Joe will make on his show.

10-10-01 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL
During his usual rounds, CAPTAIN JACKSON picked up several donated cell phone for the TRIAD/AWARE Shelter program.

10-12-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON volunteered for the second FALL KID`S MOVIE SERIES film "Atlantis".

10-16-01 JAXPO
CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the annual JAXPO event where he promoted TRIAD and the cell phone donation program. During that time, the Captain was asked to rescue a young lady who had locked her keys in her husband`s Chevy S-10 pick up truck. Even though the rain was falling at a great rate, CAPTAIN JACKSON was able to gain access to the interior of the truck without any damage to the vehicle or his uniform.

10-17-01 DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent most of the day volunteering for the DDA, delivering the latest copy of their newsletter to over fifty area businesses. Afterward, he reported a young criminal to the police, a 12 to 15 year old boy who had been seen breaking into, and stealing money from, area newspaper bins.

10-20-01 DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL patrolled the downtown area, stopping by the Inter-Faith Shelter to annouce their intentions of attending the annual march in November. Then they went to the Main Fire Station to take some pictures for the upcoming JACKSON MICHIGA FIRE SERVICES web site. Afterward, they helped a citizen with a flat tire.

10-24-01 DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON continued his volunteer work delivering DDA newsletter. Later, while on patrol, he visited the Jackson City Police station. There he was invited to the briefing room by Sgt. William Kennedy where he was introduced to the departments three new recruits, and asked to speak to them about crime fighting.

10-27-01 DOWNTOWN PATROL
The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS spent the afternoon hours patrolling the downtown Jackson area.

10-29-01 TRY TRANSIT WEEK
At the request of JTA Executive David Vassell, CAPTAIN JACKSON spent part of the day riding the JTA Trolley and talking to school children about crime fighting.

11-1-01 TRY TRANSIT WEEK
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent most of the day riding the Trolley with school children and helping out at the downtown transfer station.

11-2-01 TRY TRANSIT WEEK
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS finished up the week at the transfer station.

11-6-01 TRIAD MEETING AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
After attending the monthly TRIAD meeting at the Crouch Senior Center, CAPTAIN JACKSON made his usual rounds on his downtown patrol.

11-7-01 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL

11-11-01 SANTA PAWS AND ALLSKATE FUN CENTER
CAPTAIN JACKSON began his day visiting the mall to visit the Cascade Human Society volunteers and Santa during the first day of Santas Paws---a fund raising event where people bring thier pets in for a picture with Santa. Later, he stopped by the Allsate Fun Center to sign autographs.

11-14-01 UNTIED WAY FAMILY SKATE PARTY
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL attended the fund raiser at Allskate Fun Center where CFG skated and both signed autographs.

11-16-01 CHRISTMAS PARADE AND MICHIGAN THEATRE
The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS assisted the police with crowd control during the parade. Afterward, the went to the Michigan Theatre and volunteered.

11-17-01 INTER-FAITH SHELTER MARCH AND SANTA PAWS
The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS attended the annual march from Bucky Harris Park to the Shelter with CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL in the lead, and The QUEEN of HEARTS taking up the rear. The Captain gave a speech at the park and The QUEEN of HEARTS gave one at the shelter. Later, CJ and CFG made a quick appearance at the Santa Paws event.

11-18-01 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL worked the theater doing thier usual volunteer jobs.

12-1-01 TOYS FOR TOTS PARTY
CAPTAIN JACKSON, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS attended the annual promotion party at Coldwell Banker on North Street. It was CJ who was recruited by Doreen Abraham to coordinate the event. Because of his work, the event did about three times better than the year before.

12-1-01 USO SHOW AT THE MICHIGAN THEATRE
The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS attended the show doing their regular volunteer work. During the show which CFG and the QoH were able to enjoy, CAPTAIN JACKSON patrolled the area parking lots to make certain no theft occurred to any of the patrons` vehicles.

12-6-01 ALL AMERICAN CHRISTMAS
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS worked at the Michigan Theatre to help the Salvation Army gather cans of food for their program. Santa and the "Wizard of Oz" helpers were also on hand for the fund raiser.

12-8-01 HISTORIC MECHANIC STREET
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on patrol making certain that everyone who was enjoying the Mechanic Street Merchant`s event was safe.

12-6-01 ALL AMERICAN CHRISTMAS
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS worked at the Michigan Theatre to help the Salvation Army gather cans of food for their program. Santa and the "Wizard of Oz" helpers were also on hand for the fund raiser.

Though most people spend the Christmas Holiday with loved ones, CAPTAIN JACKSON was on patrol. After checking the security of downtown businesses, he stopped by the shelter to spend an evening with many of the residents.

12-26-01 thru 12-28-01 KID`S WINTER FILM SERIES AT THE MICHIGAN
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent the days after Christmas at the Michigan Theatre for the KID`s movies.

12-31-01 EVE ON THE AVE
The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS worked with the local authorities to keep this annual event safe for all Jackson residents to enjoy.
