CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS ACTIVITIES 8-1-02 THRU 12-31-02

8-2-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND VIBE @ 5
CAPTAIN JACKSON was working with the local Police handling security during the regular Bucky Harris Park concert in which PUB DOMAIN performed. During the event, CAPTAIN JACKSON assisted the police in apprehending a deranged drunk who was harassing citizens downtown.
Later, CAPTAIN JACKSON did his usual volunteer work at the Michigan Theatre, helping out and patrolling the parking lots to make certain no patrons` automobiles were molested.

8-6-02 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the annual event that takes place every year around the country.
The local event was held in Downtown Jackson at Bucky Harris Park where a number of City Police officers were on hand to hand out free bike registrations and tee-shirts for people who attended. CAPTAIN JACKSON was asked to lead the bike parade, and ice cream was served afterward.

8-8-02 thru 8-13-02 ANNUAL CFC VACATION
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL spent a few days vacationing in the upper peninnsula city of Iron Mountain. During that time they visited with Dickinson County Sheriff Don Charlevoix and City Police Chief Peter Flaminio to discuss the differences in the types of criminal activities that take place in the UP of Michigan, as compared to those of Jackson.
The pair also met with many local IM fans and did a great deal of hiking to stay in shape. In addition, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL climbed the Pine Mountain ski jump (the world`s highest at 186`). She also tackled the SUICIDE HILL ski jump in Ishpeming (northest of Iron Mountain and near Marquette).

8-16-02 VIBE @ 5
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to make certain the local citizens were safe during the event. Later, he volunteered at the Michigan Theatre and patrolled the streets of Downtown Jackson.

8-17-02 3rd ANNUAL ALBION NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PICNIC IN ALBION
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were once again on hand to speak about crime prevention at this annual event. During the event, the CFC members spent a great deal of time with Albion`s Mayor Bill Weaton, Public Safety Chief L.J. McCowen, local officers, and many of the local residents.

8-22-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the last KID`S MOVIE SERIES of the Summer, SPIRIT.

8-24-02 DOWNTOWN PATROL AND MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand for the movie and later patrolled the downtown area.

8-27-02 DOWNTOWN PATROL

8-30-02 thru 8-31-02 SUMMERFEST
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS worked with the local police authorities to help keep this annual event virtually crime free.

9-5-02 DOWNTOWN PATROL

9-6-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL volunteered at the theater and later patrolled the downtown area.

9-10-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand volunteering and then attended the City Council meeting. Afterward, he patrolled the streets to be certain they were safe for all.

9-11-02 911 REMEMBRANCE DAY
CAPTAIN JACKSON began his morning by attending the 911 Memorial at Bucky Harris Park. After the ceremony he spoke to area school children who where downtown for the service.
Then he attended The Volunteer Fair at Jackson Crossing Mall where he met with several other local volunteer groups.
His day continued with a visit to The Bart Hawley Show and later a daytime patrol downtown.
From there he went to Ella Sharp Park where he photographed the steel I-beam on display from World Trade Center tower #2 for one of the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS` websites.
Again he returned downtown for volunteer work at The Michigan Theatre and a late night patrol during which a 911 candlelight vigil was going on at the clock tower at the corner of Michigan Ave and Jackson Street.

9-13-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON volunteered at the theater.

9-16-02 DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent the day patrolling the Downtown district and spent a few minutes at JTV-17 watching the production of The Bart Hawley Show.

9-18-02 NEWSLETTER DISTRIBUTION
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent most of the day distributing DDA newsletters in the downtown area. During the summer months, this is an activity CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL many times handles.

9-21-02 CHEAP TRICK LIVE AT THE MICHIGAN

The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS were on hand for the Bands Dishwalla and Cheap Trick. CAPTAIN JACKSON took turns with CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS as the three greeded patrons and then worked with other security to patrol the exterior of the theater.
After the concert, the three helped cleaning up around the theater.

9-24-02 DOWNTOWN PATROL

9-27-02 DOWNTOWN CAR SHOW AND MICHIGAN THEATRE
Similar to the DDA`s summer CRUISE NIGHTS, this show was organized by Mac Bater to raise money for The Michigan Theatre. Mac is the man who began the downtown car shows about 11 years ago. About seven years ago he turned the project over to the city and DDA which began the summer CRUISE NIGHTS we know today.
CAPTAIN JACKSON worked with the police during the event and later volunteered at the Michigan Theatre.

9-29-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the movie SCOOBY DOO.

10-2-02 5/3 BANK GRAND OPENING
CAPTAIN JACKSON was amongst the many local celebrities invited to the Grand Opening of the new Fifth Third Bank in Downtown Jackson. The bank is located in the building that once housed Sound EFX. The Bank is planning more branches in the Jackson area within the next few years.

10-5-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to help at the theater for the movie LILO AND STITCH.

10-6-02 PAWS IN THE PARK, FALL FESTIVAL AND ALLSKATE FUN CENTER
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand at Ella Sharp Park for the annual Paws in the Park which is a fund raiser for The Cascades Humane Society. During the event he also attended Ella Sharp Museum`s Fall Festival.
Later, he visited the Allskate Fun Center to greed fans.

10-8-02 ART COLONY PRESENTATION
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to attend the second Art Colony Presentation at the Michigan Theatre for an update on the project.

10-9-02 ALLSKATE FUN CENTER
CAPTAIN JACKSON visited fans at the skating center.

10-11-02 THREE MEN AND A TENOR
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand to greed patrons and make certain all was safe at the Michigan Theatre for the concert.
Afterward, they escorted patrons to the "afterglow" party which was held at Bella Notte`.

10-17-02 SCARCROW ROW
CAPTAIN JACKSON delivered their scarecrow entry to Bucky Harris Park.
Sponsored by the Michigan Theatre, the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS scarecrow was that of CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and was later mounded on Pearl Street.

10-18-02 BARRY MARSH BIRTHDAY PARTY
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS where honored to be invited to Barry Marsh`s birthday party, which was held in the Prosecutor`s office in the courthouse.
It was Barry` 30ith birthday and members of the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS have known him on a personal basis since their beginning.

10-29-02 TRY TRANSIT WEEK
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent most of the day at the Jackson Transit Authority helping promote this annual national event.

10-30-02 TRY TRANSIT WEEK AND ALLSKATE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on hand for the event. The QUEEN of HEARTS handed out JTA buttons, key chains and calculators.
Later, CAPTAIN JACKSON appeared at the Allskate Fun Center.

10-31-02 TRY TRANSIT WEEK
CAPTAIN JACKSON patrolled the downtown area and was on hand for the event.

11-1-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand to help out and patrol the downtown area.

11-2-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE
CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand to help out and patrol the downtown area.

11-4-02 PARAGON SCHOOL PRESENTATION AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to award one of the classes for collecting toys for needy children.
Later, he patrolled the Downtown area where he met with Blackman Township Supervisor Kevin Boman and Blackman Public Safety Sgt. Edward Smith.

11-8-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND EVENING PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to volunteer at the theatre and later patrol the Downtown area.

11-9-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE, SANTA PAWS AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON made his rounds at both the theatre and the Downtown area. During his hectic day, he made time to stop at the Riverwalk Hotel and check on the Annual Santa Paws fundraising event for the Cascades Humane Society.

CAPTAIN JACKSON made his rounds at both the theatre and the Downtown area. During his hectic day, he made time to stop at the Riverwalk Hotel and check on the Annual Santa Paws fundraising event for the Cascades Humane Society.
During this visit, the Captain had his picture taken with Santa himself!

11-13-02 INTERFAITH SHELTER MARCH
CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on hand for the annual march from Bucky Harris Park to the shelter on Blackstone street. This was the Captain`s third year, and he was honored to once again lead the parade of supporters, and helping with directing traffic.

11-16-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand at the Michigan Theatre and on the streets of the downtown area during the evening.

11-19-02 NIGHT PATROL
After attending a Building Committee meeting at the Michigan Theatre, CAPTAIN JACKSON patrolled the streets of Jackson.

11-22-02 CHRISTMAS PARADE
CAPTAIN JACKSON, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on hand to assist the Police and make certain this annual event was once again crime free.

11-23-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND DOWNTOWN PATROL

11-28-02 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND DOWNTOWN PATROL
CAPTAIN JACKSON spent most of Thanksgiving day on the streets to keep crime down. Later, he volunteered at the Michigan.

12-1-02 TOYS FOR TOTS

12-4-02 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL

12-6-02 CHRISTMAS ON MECHANIC STREET
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to make certain this annual event was a very safe one.

12-7-02 TOYS FOR TOTS
Working closely this year with local Toys for Tots coordinator Bonnie Ludwig, CAPTAIN JACKSON attended the American 1 Federal Credit Union`s Toys for Tots donation party at Felpausch on Michigan Avenue.
Later, he attended the donation party held by Sandi and Tim Newman at Mitch`s bar in Vandercook Lake.

12-12-02 ALL AMERI-CAN CHRISTMAS SHOW
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to assist with the annual food drive held at the Michigan Theatre.

12-14-02 ALL AMERI-CAN CHRISTMAS AND "TATTOO" MOVIE PREMIERE
CAPTAIN JACKSON, CHRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS where on hand to volunteer at the Michigan Theatre for both these events.
During on of his downtown patrols during the TATTOO premiere, CAPTAIN JACKSON witnessed a hit and run accident and reported it to the authorities.

12-17-02 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL

12-20-02 PRE-CHRISTMAS SHOW
CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the comedy show with Diane Jordan and Brian Sheil at The Michigan Theatre. During the performance of Brian, the Captain was called to the stage where Brian began to make fun of him.
Even though many patrons later apologized for the comic`s crude remarks, The Captain realized it was all in good fun and enjoyed being part of the act.
During and after the event, CAPTAIN JACKSON made his regular patrols on the streets of Jackson.
