5-2-03 JACKSON RADIO WORKS

CAPTAIN JACKSON visited Scott Clow at the local radio station and was his on air guest promoting The Michigan Theatre and the Jackson Community in general.


5-2-03 DOWNTOWN PATROL

CAPTAIN JACKSON spent the afternoon patrolling the area where he ran into friend and fan Daniel Cooper, who spends his Fridays enjoying the beauty and activities of the downtown area.


5-2-03 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND EVENING DOWNTOWN PATROL

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand to volunteer at The Michigan for the 16th Annual Storyfest Festival. During the performances, both crime fighters took their turns patrolling the streets.


5-3-03 MICHIGAN THEATRE AND EVENING DOWNTOWN PATROL

It was a busy day for CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL.
While having dinner at The Red Moose Inn, the owner of The Swan Creek Candle Factory came up to CAPTAIN JACKSON and thanked him for doing door checks and being on scene when he set off their front door alarm (see 4-12-03 entry).
Then it was time for the two to volunteer at The Michigan for the second evening of Storyfest. After greeting patrons, they took their turns patrolling the area.
While doing his downtown patrol, Daryl`s Downtown owner Daryl Hoskins thanked CAPTAIN JACKSON for his hard work downtown, "What you do is wonderful. I know you don`t get paid a dime for this, and we all appreciate what you`re doing."
Later, because it was prom night for Vandercook High School, the duo was asked to pose with many young people on the streets as well as at The Riverwalk Plaza Hotel were the prom was being held. CAPTAIN JACKSON even took a moment to enjoy a dance with CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL during the event.
After helping close The Michigan Theatre after Storyfest, the duo continued their patrols downtown until around 11:00pm, and were happy that they saw no criminal activities.


5-4-03 MICHIGAN THEATRE 73rd BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

At the annual birthday celebration, CAPTAIN JACKSON and The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS were among the several volunteers to receive an award, theirs being a gold star which will permanently hang on the theater wall.

5-10-03 JACKSON HOOPS COMPETITION

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand at the 2nd Annual Jackson Hoops Association 3 on 3 competition. Because of the severe weather forecast for the weekend, the entire competition was held in one day.
During the event, the vacant R&G Photo building suddenly collapsed due to almost two feet of rain water which was trapped on the roof. Fortunately, no one was close enough to the building to be hurt.


5-13-03 NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION WEEK

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand to assist Mr. B-Wise and regular volunteers Walt and Lucille Wrozek at the Downtown JTA bus terminal as they entertained children who visited from many local schools.


5-15-03 NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION WEEK

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand at the Downtown JTA bus terminal to educate people about the event. He did take a short break during which he visited JTV-17 and sat in on the taping of The Bart Hawley Show.

5-17-03 DOWNTOWN FLOWER PLANTING DAY AND DOWNTOWN PATROL

It was a busy day for CAPTAIN JACKSON. He began around nine in the morning by planting flowers in not only his flower planter, but those of CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS. Then it on to The Michigan Theatre where he had some restoration work to do. Planning to go off duty by 1:00pm, he found himself busy patrolling the streets of Downtown Jackson until past five.


5-20-03 BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING AT THE MICHIGAN

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand as a member of the building committee to discuss the continued restoration of the theater. Afterward, he spent a couple of hours patrolling the streets.


5-23-03 CRUISE NIGHTS

Although the year`s first Cruise Night of the year was technically "rained out" about an hour into the event, CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL still worked late into the evening, even stopping by the Michigan Theatre to offer their services.


5-24-03 K-MART SAFETY FAIR AND DOWNTOWN PATROL

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL, along with the local Ambulance service, M.A.D.D., The AWARE Shelter, face painters, TC the Drug Bug and a fire truck from the Blackman Township Public Safety force were on hand. As both children and adults visited the parking lot, they picked up souvenirs and valuable safety information.
Later, both spent a couple hours downtown where they helped out at the Michigan as well as patrolled the streets.

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL worked the Downtown district as well as volunteered at the theater for the movie CHICAGO.


6-1-03 ROSE PARADE

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL worked with the many Jackson City Police on hand to make certain this annual event was again crime free. And, as they have done every year, they led the police as they ended the parade.

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the annual neighborhood picnic which is held by the Jackson City Police.

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were on hand to work the streets of downtown Jackson during the MIS Race Weekend as well as volunteer at The Michigan Theatre for the annual performance of The Rosier Players.


6-15-03 UNTITLED RADIO PROGRAM

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL where the honored guests of the Oakland University radio program, Untitled Radio. And while the show`s format is a little off beat, they were well received very warmly and treated well by both staff and callers.


6-17-03 VISTA GRANDE VILLA AND MICHIGAN THEATRE

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL visited the retirement home and met with many of the residents. Later, they patrolled the downtown Jackson area and helped at the Michigan Theatre.


6-19-03 MICHIGAN THEATRE

CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL spent the afternoon volunteering at the theater during one of the first Kid`s Movies of the summer.

6-21-03 DOWNTOWN PATROL AND MICHIGAN THEATRE

CAPTAIN JACKSON spent the late afternoon patrolling the streets of downtown Jackson and later did some volunteer work at the Michigan.


6-23-03 GLOBAL 1 NETWORK PHOTO SHOOT

CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on hand at Lenore`s Fitness Center for an interview and photo show with G1N representatives visiting from Detroit.


6-26-03 JACKSON HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISION MEETING

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand at the Michigan Theatre for The Jackson Humans Relations Commission gathering. Included was the movie, A FAMILY THING, door prizes and refreshments, and a short discussion afterwards.


6-27-03 CRUISE NIGHTS

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL worked with the local police to make this event a safe one. The weather was great and there was a record crowd in attendance.

CAPTAIN JACKSON spent the late afternoon patrolling the streets of downtown Jackson and later did some volunteer work at the Michigan.

CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL were the guest celebrities for the KID`S MOVIES SERIES during which the CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS video was shown.

7-11-03 SUMMERFEST

CAPTAIN JACKSON and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on hand to work with the local police to keep the first day of this annual event a safe one for all.


7-12-03 SUMMERFEST

CAPTAIN JACKSON, CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS were on from the afternoon into the night helping police keep the event safe for all who attended.


7-12-03 MICKEY ROONEY LIVE

The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS worked security at The Michigan Theatre for "The One Man, One Wife Show" starring Mickey Rooney and his wife, Jan Chamberlin. The show was a wonderful "trip down memory lane" and was very much enjoyed by all who attended. After the show, the Ronney`s signed autographs for the fans and were kind enough to personally sign ones for each member of The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS.


7-14-03 L`IL ABNER

CAPTAIN JACKSON was asked to on hand at The Michigan Theatre by L`IL ABNER Director Bill Bivins for a cameo role in the musical play. Afterward, he patrolled the downtown area.


7-17-03 L`IL ABNER

CAPTAIN JACKSON was on hand for the dress rehearsal of the musical. Later, he patrolled the downtown area.


7-18-03 VIBE@5

CAPTAIN JACKSON took to the streets of Downtown Jackson to make certain all of the attendees of the event were safe. And the reggae band IMMUNITY made the Captain feel a very welcomed part of the community.

7-23-03 REGULAR DOWNTOWN PATROL


7-25-03 CRUISE NIGHT, JACKSON RACE WEEK AND L`IL ABNER

It was a very busy day for The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS. CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL began their patrol work early in the afternoon during the "Raceweek" part of the day. With the beginning of "Cruise Night" at five o`clock, The QUEEN of HEARTS joined in patrolling the downtown district. This was a very busy evening, as well as one with one of the largest populations that the downtown has ever seen during any such event, and the three were kept very busy working with the police and working with the citizens in attendance.

Shortly after eight it was time for CAPTAIN JACKSON`S cameo appearance in the musical L`il Abner which was being performed at The Michigan Theatre. Afterwards, he again joined CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL and The QUEEN of HEARTS on the streets.

The last major event of the evening was the downtown fireworks display which began at about 10:25pm. By 11:00pm the evening`s events were over and the crowd was dispersing. The CRIMEFIGHTER CORPS went off duty around 11:30 that evening.

7-28-03 DOWNTOWN PATROL


7-30-03 GOGEBIC COUNTY

During their annual trip around Michigan, CAPTAIN JACKSON and CRIMEFIGHTER GIRL first visited Ironwood in far western Gogebic County. They immediately contacted the Sheriff`s Depart to inquire about Sgt. Bruce Davey, whom managed the Sheriff Department`s website. Unfortunately, because of health reasons, Davey had to take an early retirement.

The Department was kind enough to provide the Captain with Davey`s home phone number and they spent quite a while discussing crime situations in both communities.
