As a volunteer at Downtown Jackson`s Michigan Theatre, I enjoy the number of tasks I and my fellow volunteers do for each movie. And today was no different.
First, it`s greet the patrons as they enter and answer any questions they may have. Once the movie begins we are busy restocking the shelves, checking the bathrooms and making certain the trash bins as empty. And if it`s a Kid`s show, we have to get the prizes ready for the lucky ticket holders.
After the show, we all grab a trash can and pick up any debris left behind in the auditorium. And, believe it or not, it`s the children who leave the least.
But today was different. Instead of restocking supplies, they all went into storage. Popcorn bags and boxes, candy, souvenirs, even the lobby furniture! But fear not, Jackson`s 71 year old icon isn`t closing, it`s just getting ready for their annual Halloween presentation THE THEATRE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD! PART VII.
For those of you who have never attended, just imagine a three story haunted house filled with ghouls, monsters and goblins. Like a professional stage performance, in this case the entire theater is the stage and everywhere you proceed you run into some form of ghoulish apparition. But enough of the details. That`s for you to check---if you dare!
THE THEATRE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD! PART VII runs for two weeks, from Thursday, October 18 through Sunday, October 21 and from Thursday, October 25 through Sunday, October 28. On Thursdays and Sundays the hours are 7:00pm to 9:00pm, on Fridays and Saturdays the hours are 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Admission is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under.
This haunting has been considered one of the best anywhere, but it is not recommended for very young children or the very faint at heart!
