No matter who you are or where you live, at one time in your life you have probably known someone who has been the victim of domestic violence. At the AWARE Shelter in Jackson they have certainly met their share. You see, their mission is to help these victims.
Each year The AWARE Shelter holds a march they call "Take Back The Night". It`s purpose is to make local citizens aware of the shelter and it`s most serious mission.
This year, the annual march takes place Friday, April 26 come rain or shine. It begins at The AWARE Shelter, 706 West Michigan Avenue, and heads straight down Michigan Avenue to The Jackson Symphony Orchestra Hall which is located just across from the Consumer`s Energy Building. Once there, many guest speakers will give a presentation, and refreshments will be served.
Whether you were once the victim of domestic violence or you just support the fight against it, all are welcome and encouraged to participate. To attend, simply meet at The AWARE Shelter between 5:00pm and 5:30pm. The march is scheduled to begin around 5:30pm. For more information call Teresa Mahaffey at the shelter at (517) 783-2861.
