JUNE CRUISE NIGHT BRINGS A FLOOD OF ENTHUSIASM TO DOWNTOWN JACKSON
by Captain Jackson and The Queen of Hearts

The first actual Jackson CRUISE NIGHT of the summer season (the May CRUISE NIGHT was technically canceled due to inclement weather) drew at least two thousand people and close to a hundred choice automobiles. The mood was very relaxed, and everyone in attendance seemed to enjoy the many activities. Many people had traveled from as far away as Ohio and Indiana.

As Max Haggerman said, "This event is getting better every year." Haggerman attended the events last year bringing his custom Chevy S-10 pickup truck. This year he was showing off his gorgeous 1972 Chevy Malibu.

Some of the other cars and car owners were:

---Gary and Ruth Burette with their 1925 WHIPPET
---Stan Jones and his 1933 FORD ROADSTER Street Rod
---Jay Woodring and his 1955 CHEVY BELAIRE
---MODEL "A"s ranging from 1928 to 1931 belonging to: John Plachetka, Orville Butcher, Glen Rickbaugh and Dick Cochran
---Rick Welsh and his 1935 FORD 2 DOOR SEDAN (with Chevy drivetrain)
---Larry Schramm and his 1939 FORD CONVERTIBLE
---Buck Gullett from Chelsea with his 1957 CHEVY 2 DOOR HARDTOP
---Larry Spinvey and his "Grandpa"s Playpen", a 1930 Custom FORD SEDAN
---A 1940 Custom WILLYS
---"Black Ice", Alvin Withem`s 1934 5 Window FORD COUPE
---"Fat & Low", Larry Spivey`s 1936 FORD COUPE
---A beautiful 1973 JAGUAR XKE
---1970 DODGE HEMI CHALLENGER
---Duane Sell of Hillsdale and his 1950 PLYMOUTH WOODY
---Merlyn and Rose Maloney`s 1950 FORD CLUB COUPE
---A fully restored 1972 CHEVY CHEVELLE SUPER SPORT owned by Mike Stevens
---A 1955 THUNDERBIRD owned by Stan Reynolds, one of only 16,555 built
---Joe Underwood from Grand Ledge brought his 1959 MERCURY MONTEREY

There were so many other people we spoke to including Jerry Sears, Diane Johnivon, Mike and Rachel Sears, Austin and Eric Letts, Bill McDaniel, Bob Butler, Ron and Sue Richards, Carol Kling, Steve Walker, Tom Bowling, and many others. To see pictures of many of these people and beautiful automobiles, we have prepared a slide show of the event. We apologize for not being able to include every car or person.
