This past Saturday, August 26th, at the Boo`s Center was the Official Grand Opening of the Loomis Park Playground Project. It seems like only yesterday that tensions mounted as we finally brought this dream to fruition.

At the Center we met, enjoyed cake and drink and watched the video documentary of the build (a copy of which is available for $12.95 by calling (517) 780-9989, or by sending a check to Joel Prairie at 1224 Forest, Jackson, MI 49201). It was very enjoyable to see so many people I had not been in contact with since April. There is also a web site with pictures of the build, from beginning to end. The address is:

Loomis Park

Many people in the Jackson County area participated in the Loomis Park Playground build, and like to reminisce about the good times we shared whenever we run into one another. Well, it is happening again! This time it is at the Pleasant Lake County Park just north of Jackson. And many of the people who contributed at Loomis Park will be there to prove anything can be accomplished if people get together and put their minds to something.

But time is short! The build dates for the "Play for Peace" Playground are September 13-17, 2000, and we need your help again to make this community project a reality! We need volunteers! Skilled or unskilled, there are many ways you can help. For a day, or the entire week.

Please join us and relive the dream of Loomis Park. Volunteer today! Just tell them the Captain sent you!
