NEWS FLASH (6-14-01):

MICHIGAN THEATRE BREAK IN CANCELS KIDS MOVIE SERIES
by Captain Jackson

On the second day of the annual "Just for Kids" Summer Matinee Series, Michigan Theatre Manager George Davis announced the movie series would have to be delayed in a statement released on the Bart Hawley Cable Channel 17 television show this afternoon. According to Hawley, the series "may be canceled through next week."

According to Police sources, a break in occurred sometime Wednesday night. Theater officials discovered and reported the theft early this morning. According to Hawley, stolen items taken included "a large light board, speakers and miscellaneous items". A Jackson City Police representative verified this, and stated they had "no suspects in custody" as of Thursday evening. No other details were available and theater Manager Davis was unavailable for comment.

This will be a great disappointment for many local children who looked forward to this variety of summer films. The films are scheduled to run each Tuesday and Thursday through August16 from 1:30pm to approximately 3:45pm and feature guest celebrities. Admission is only $1.50.

For more information about the "Just for Kids" series and other presentations, call the theater at (517) 783-0811.
